Big Kid In The Dressing Room Program
Jr and College Hockey Program
Mission
Welcome to the “Big Kid in the Dressing Room” program, a transformative initiative aimed at fostering a strong sense of community engagement among junior and college teams and athletes. In our pursuit of education, we recognize the importance of giving back and becoming active participants in shaping a brighter future for all.
One of the cornerstones of our program is our commitment to volunteering at minor hockey practices. By lending our support and expertise to younger athletes, we not only strengthen the foundation of our sport but also instil invaluable lessons of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship.
In addition to on-ice involvement, we are dedicated to learning together about Indian Residential Schools, acknowledging the painful legacy of the past and working towards reconciliation. Through educational workshops and discussions, we strive to deepen our understanding and promote healing within our communities.
As part of your commitment to reconciliation, you will proudly host an “Every Child Matters” game, where you will honour and remember the Indigenous children who were impacted by the residential school system. By raising awareness and standing in solidarity, we hope to contribute to the ongoing journey towards truth and reconciliation.
Central to our mission is the active engagement with the community, local Indigenous bands, and elders. Through meaningful interactions and partnerships, we aim to learn from Indigenous perspectives, traditions, and wisdom, fostering mutual respect and understanding.
As athletes, we recognize the profound impact we can have as role models for the younger generation. By embodying the values of respect, inclusivity, and compassion, we strive to inspire and empower the next generation of athletes to become leaders both on and off the ice.
