Minor Hockey U9-U18 Registration

2024/25 Registration Has been postponed until August 29th, 2024, Minor Hockey Coaches and Managers can register to have your teams participate in this upcoming season. We will be accepting the first 1000 Registrations. All registrations are subject for review. All Qualified teams ranging from U9 to U18. Each kit will receive a Maximum of 20 Jerseys per team, one Orange Shirt Story work book, access to the LMS Learning Management System New Introducing 2 Coaching hats and number kits Included with all qualified registrations. Everything you need to inform, educate and engage young athletes, about the true history of the Indian Residential School System. While quantities last.
*Coaches and Managers to register only to prevent duplicates all Registrations will be reviewed.
The Orange Jersey Project uses the power of sport to educate young athletes about the true history of the Indian residential school system, strengthen the path toward truth and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and promote the physical and mental wellness of Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth through sport.
2023 Online Learning Platform
Welcome 2023 Minor Hockey Teams and the Western Hockey League Players and Staff. (WHL) follow this link. Minor Hockey use QR or this link. Every Jersey has a Special QR Code (Minor Hockey Jerseys) located on the upper right of each jersey that links to an online learning and sharing platform (referred to as the Learning Management System or LMS).
In the LMS, we will introduce Phyllis Webstad and include videos by Professional Indigenous Athletes sharing their experience with former Indian Residential Schools.
The LMS is an engaging environment for young Indigenous and Non Indigenous athletes, to discover the true history of Indian Residential Schools. With the goal to encourage learning, engagement, sharing, and activities.
We encourage all Athletes that register for the 2023 Season, to register using an individual email for registration. One athlete per email. Every Qualified participant that completes all Modules will then be entered into a random draw for each Division U9 to U18 to be eligible for Unique prizes.
Big Kid In The Dressing Room Program
Jr and College Hockey Teams
The “Big Kid in the Dressing Room” program is a transformative initiative designed to promote community engagement among junior and college athletes. The program emphasizes the importance of giving back through volunteering at minor hockey practices, instilling values of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship in younger athletes. It also includes a commitment to learning about the history of Indian Residential Schools and participating in reconciliation efforts, such as hosting “Every Child Matters” games to honor Indigenous children affected by the residential school system. By engaging with local Indigenous communities and embodying values of respect and inclusivity, the program aims to inspire the next generation of athletes to become compassionate leaders both on and off the ice.

Once your team has been approved and receives the orange jersey package , we invite you to dedicate practices or Host your very own Every Child Matters Game throughout the season and spend a few minutes acknowledging the Treaty Lands upon which you are playing and the Indigenous Peoples who reside there.
